1. Introduction
Welcome to Pocket Technician ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy applies to our website, mobile apps, software (including our product, Circuit), and related services (collectively, the "Services"). It explains how we collect, use, process, share, and protect personal information, your rights regarding your data, and how to contact us.
2. Roles: Controller vs. Processor
- As Controller: When users interact directly with Pocket Technician, we determine how personal data is used and processed.
- As Processor: When servicing our business customers (such as HVAC contractors), we process their end-customer data on their behalf, under their instruction.
If you are a homeowner communicating with an HVAC contractor through Circuit, that contractor determines the purpose of the communication and how your information is used for its services. Its privacy policy applies to that relationship. Pocket Technician processes that information to provide the platform on the contractor's behalf. You can contact the contractor about its practices or contact us using the details below for help directing a request.
3. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Registration details (name, email, password), profile information, contact data.
- Payment and billing details (via third-party providers).
- Uploaded content (e.g., photos, notes), communications with support or chat features, location data (if enabled), and any other data you share.
Communication and preference records
When the Services are used for customer communications, information may include message content, contact details, service history provided by the contractor, appointment details and communication preferences. Consent and opt-out records may include the channel, the wording or other evidence of the choice, its source, and when it was recorded. These records help the business understand and respect the scope of a person's permission.
Automatically Collected Information
- IP address, device type, browser type, pages visited, timestamps.
- Cookies, web beacons, usage analytics to help us optimize features and user experience.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and improve the Services, personalize your experience, process transactions, and communicate updates.
- For analytics, security monitoring, fraud prevention, and service performance.
- To provide customer support, recruitment (if applicable), and respond to your requests or legal requirements.
5. Sharing & Disclosure
- Shared with trusted third-party service providers for payment processing, analytics, hosting, and communication.
- May transfer across borders; we ensure appropriate safeguards in line with applicable laws.
- In legal contexts (e.g., to comply with a subpoena or for protection of rights), we'll share data as required.
Service providers may process information on our behalf to support hosting, AI-assisted communications and message delivery. This operational processing is different from sharing a phone number or SMS opt-in data with another business for its own promotions. The SMS-specific restriction in Section 8 applies to that promotional sharing.
6. Data Subject Rights
Depending on jurisdiction, you have the right to:
- Access, rectify, or delete your personal information.
- Object to or restrict processing.
- Opt out of marketing communications or data "sale" (as defined in applicable laws).
To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@pocket-technician.com.
Communication choices
You can use the unsubscribe option in marketing emails and reply STOP to text messages. A choice to receive service-related messages is not a blanket agreement to unrelated promotions. You may also contact us to ask about your recorded preferences. Changing marketing preferences does not require you to delete your account.
Browser settings let you manage cookies on your device. Limiting cookies can affect features that rely on them. For questions about information associated with your account or a contractor's account, contact us rather than sending sensitive information in a public message.
7. Security & Data Retention
- We deploy reasonable technical and organizational safeguards (e.g., encryption, secure access controls).
- In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected individuals and authorities as required by law.
- Personal data is stored no longer than necessary to fulfill its purpose or legal obligations.
8. SMS/Text Messaging
When you submit a service request form on our website or provide your phone number during a service inquiry, you may opt in to receive SMS text messages from Pocket Technician. These messages may include:
- Appointment confirmations and reminders
- Technician dispatch and arrival updates
- Service follow-ups and estimate notifications
- Scheduling changes or cancellations
Optional consent: The SMS checkbox on our forms is unchecked by default. You can submit a form without selecting it. Providing a phone number alone does not select the checkbox, and SMS consent is not a condition of purchase or service.
Message frequency varies based on your service activity. Typically 1–5 messages per service request.
Message and data rates may apply. Contact your wireless carrier for details about your messaging plan.
Opt-out: You can stop receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. You will receive a single confirmation message and no further texts will be sent.
Help: For assistance, reply HELP to any message or contact us at support@pocket-technician.com.
No sharing: Your phone number and SMS messaging data will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. We use your phone number solely to deliver service-related communications you have consented to receive.
Supported carriers: We support all major US wireless carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and others.
For the full program details, see our SMS Program Terms. Contractor-branded communications through Circuit may have separate terms provided by the contractor; this section describes Pocket Technician's own program.
9. Policy Updates
- We may update this Policy occasionally and will indicate the date of the most recent revision. Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of changes.
